Neighbourhood Priority Areas in Tameside
Tameside has been awarded Working Neighbourhoods Funding (WNF) until March 2011. WNF is a replacement for Neighbourhood Renewal Funding (NRF). The WNF is targeted at reducing worklessness in the borough, however we will continue to work to reduce health, housing, learning and crime inequalities through improved delivery of services.
Neighbourhood management partnerships have been developed in all priority regeneration neighbourhoods in Tameside to take forward this area of work. Neighbourhood management is about making sure public services are coordinated and effective and tailored to meet the needs of a given area. Neighbourhood Agreements, with neighbourhood-specific outcomes and actions, have been produced in each of the four priority neighbourhoods in order to improve quality of life. The Council and its partners, including the Police, Housing Associations and health agencies, are represented on the neighbourhood partnerships and have signed up to deliver these outcomes.
The four priority regeneration neighbourhoods in Tameside are:
- Hattersley
- St Peter’s
- Smallshaw Hurst
- Denton South
District Assemblies engage with all residents across Tameside at a wider level then neighbourhood management partnerships. There are eight District Assemblies which meet six times a year. They give people in Tameside the chance to find out what's going on in their area and to have their say.
