Tameside Strategic Partnership Many Partners, One Direction

The Champion!

Phil Spence was recognised at a national awards ceremony for his dedicated work between the public and voluntary, community and faith sectors (VCS). The awards ceremony took place in London in November.

Phil won the Compact Champion of the Year award. ‘Compact’ is the name given to the agreement between the public and VCS for shared principles to facilitate effective partnership working. Winning the Compact Champion of the year award is a great personal achievement for Phil but the award also recognises the work done across the partnership in the last year. Having a strong and thriving VCS is vital for making Tameside an even better place to live, work and do business.

Phil is Community Economic Development Manager at Tameside Council and is the Link Officer in both the Tameside Economic Learning Partnership and Older Peoples Partnership.

Phil said ‘I’m really happy that the work of everyone in Tameside has been recognised in this award, I think my personal achievement is a reflection of how much we value partnership working in the borough’.

Tony Okotie Director of Tameside Third Sector Coalition said ‘We have a strong relationship across the public and third sector in Tameside and I’m really pleased that Phil has been acknowledged nationally for his hard work in helping to make that happen’.
