Tameside Strategic Partnership Many Partners, One Direction

Key issues for Older People’s Partnership

The Older People’s Partnership presented its annual report to the Board in December. Among the key issues the partnership identified for 2010/11 are:

- Improving understanding between the older and younger generations in Tameside building on the numerous schemes which already promote intergenerational understanding

- Improving the way that information is communicated to and accessed by older people building on the older people’s web page, having themed information days and developing a gap analysis of current information.

- Continued improvement to service and engagement with older people to help them feel safer in the community

- Ensuring the new housing strategy takes into account the needs of older people

- Developing innovative ways, including social prescribing, to help older people live fit and active lives

- Ensuring that older people have an adequate income and affordable warmth

- Improving pedestrian access in town centres.
