What is the purpose and what are the goals of the Partnership?

The Partnership promotes the involvement of all communities in Tameside in the achievement of the ‘Prosperous Society’; and ‘Learning Community’ aims of the Community Strategy. The Partnership enables joint working across agencies and communities so that shared goals and outcomes for Economic Development and Lifelong Learning can be achieved.

The Partnership contributes to the delivery and monitoring of the four key objectives of the Tameside Economic Master plan to:

  • Increase Skills
  • Increase Employment
  • Increase Enterprise and
  • Attract Investment

What is the National Context?

The work of the Partnership is influenced by national policies and priorities for economy and learning, for example improving basic skills and promoting enterprise in deprived communities. It provides a forum for discussion of national, regional and sub regional policies for example the “Sub National Review of Economic Development and regeneration” and provides a mechanism to feedback on their local implementation. The Partners also develop and promote new and innovative projects and ways of working.

The Partnership is guided by, and contributes to, regional and sub regional plans including the North West Regional Economic Strategy, Greater Manchester Economic Development Plan and other sub regional strategies such the Manchester City Strategy and City Region Development Programme and by spatial and regeneration strategies (for example the Regional Spatial Strategy).
