My Tameside
Tameside Community Strategy
At one time all local authorities had a duty to prepare a Community Strategy to improve quality of life for local communities by identifying one clear set of long term priorities for the borough. Although, these statutory duties no longer exist, Tameside Strategic Partnership feels very strongly about having a Community Strategy, the priorities it identifies and the work it enables partners to undertake. One of the key tasks for our Partnership is to implement Tameside’s Community Strategy. The 'My Tameside' Tameside Sustainable Community Strategy 2009-19 (2MB)
details six aims for the borough which were identified from extensive consultation with 3,000 local people. The six aims are to promote:
- Supportive Tameside
- Prosperous Tameside
- Learning Tameside
- Attractive Tameside
- Safe Tameside
- Healthy Tameside
The development of the updated Tameside Sustainable Community Strategy has been supported by a consultation and engagement report, 'What Our Communities Told Us' (608KB)
a Sustainability Appraisal (262KB)
and a Equality Impact Assessment - (Summary) of the Sustainable Community Strategy 2009-19
In 2012, we are working to refresh our Community Strategy in light of central government changes, changes to the economy and much more. The new Strategy will appear live on our website once agreed by the Tameside Strategic Partnership Board.
